 General Information about the Library Media Center:

When is the library open?

The Library Media Center is open to all students and staff during the following hours:

            Monday - Thursday:  7:45 - 3:20*

            Friday:  7:45 - 2:30

* Please listen to morning announcements.  Occasionally, the library may not be open after school due to staff meetings and etc.

How do students visit the library during school?

Students are allowed to visit the Library Media Center during their enrichment class or from their subject class.  All students must have a pass from their teacher.  Most students will be allowed to stay for 10 minutes in order to find, return, or exchange books.  If students are performing research or typing, they are allowed to stay longer, provided they have a pass from their teacher assigning the work.  These students may stay for the full class period.

How many books can a student check out and for how long?

Students may check out 2 books at a time for a period of two weeks.  Books can be renewed a maximum of two additional times as long as another student is not waiting for the book.  Books checked out for book reports can be renewed until the book report is complete.  In order to renew an overdue book, students must have the book with them.  Students will not be fined for overdue books.  The cost of lost or damaged items must be reimbursed to the media center.  If there are any concerns about lost or damaged items please see Mrs. Orcutt.

Do students need permission to work in the media center after-school?

Permission is not required from library staff; however, students are strongly advised to have parental permission to stay after school.  Arrangements should be made to either take the late bus or for pickup from school at 3:20.  In order for students to use the library after school, students should come from Academic Assistance or have a pass from the teacher /group they are working with after school.

* Students who come to the media center should have a purpose.  For example:  reading, book exchange, studying, and research. 

Can students use the computers in the media center to research or to type a paper?

Yes, as long as the student and at least one of his/her parent/guardian has signed and returned the school district computer use policy form.
