Concussion Information

HMS will be offering baseline concussion screenings (ImPACT Testing) this summer!! This is a computer based evaluation of your child’s short term memory, long term memory, reaction time and pattern identification. If your child has never been tested, this is a great way to start a reference point in the unfortunate event of a future injury. If you child is due to be tested during the 2018 - 19 school year, you may want to pick a “Early Bird” date and avoid the rush. Who can be tested??? ANYONE!! The baseline results are only good for TWO years, so students who were tested as 6th graders (two years ago) will need to be retested in 2018 - 19. If your child is going to be a 6th grade student in September 2017 and they are interested in playing a sport, or an intramural, it is required by NH State LAW, they will need to be tested. This can happen as part of their fall, winter or spring sport season or during these summer sessions. If your child is not playing a school sport but is an avid biker, skater or skier they can be tested too! All tests are FREE and again are required if students are going to take part in school sponsored sports or intramurals. Students who were tested as 7th graders in 2017-2018 will NOT need to be retested during the upcoming school year. Testing sessions last approximately 45-50min, depending on each individual student’s pace.

All testing is done at Hudson Memorial School in our computer labs.
